Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics, supporting National Children’s Dental Health Month

Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

For kids wearing traditional braces, brushing and flossing can become more difficult, requiring extra time and vigilance to remove food particles that accumulate on and between the teeth and in braces. New options for braces such as Invisalign Teen, which is removable, make it easier for kids to maintain good oral health during orthodontic treatment.

If the health of your teeth is ignored during treatment with braces, the results can be significantly compromised. Drs. Cliff and Moody Alexander will be available to explain why effective brushing and flossing is one of the most critical actions needed from patients during orthodontic treatment. Have you visited Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics lately? If not, please give us a call!

Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics get social!

At Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics, we embrace new technology. And that includes social media. We love connecting with our patients online, whether it’s by sharing news on our blog or communicating ideas on our Facebook fan page. For social media to work, conversation is vital, and that’s why we invite you to join in and tell us what’s on your mind. Although social media is hugely popular these days, we know it is unpredictable and ever-changing.

While we’re taking a little time to research how to best use social media, we thought we’d ask you, our loyal patients: How would you like our office to use our social networks? What would you like us to share? Send us your thoughts or give us a call!

Drs. Alexander want to know: What do you love about our community?

Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics, located in Dallas and Coppell and serving surrounding communities, is situated around some pretty special neighborhoods here in Dallas and Denton Counties. Each is unique with its own personality, created by the people and places (and our amazing patients) living within.

Today, Drs. Alexander and our entire team thought we'd ask: What are your favorite things about Dallas or Coppell? Is there a local event you attend every year? Do you have a favorite eatery? Perhaps a favorite Texas getaway? Do you enjoy the nice weather we get year-round?

Please feel free to share some information about your favorite local hang-outs in Dallas or Coppell, and everything you love best about “your neck of the woods.” And, who knows, we might just might post your response on our social networks next week!

Some helpful Invisalign® tips, from Drs. Alexander

Many people know that Invisalign is a great solution to braces if you don't want to experience the look and feel of traditional metal braces. What few people know, though, is that just like traditional braces, Invisalign requires proper care to work effectively. When wearing your Invisalign aligners, Drs. Moody and Cliff Alexander want you to ask yourself the following three questions:

1. Am I eating with my aligners on? - These aligners are removable and should be taken out when you eat.

2. Am I drinking anything other than water with my aligners on? - Though it's not a necessity for you to take out your aligners while you drink, think about how sticky a soda is. If you take out your aligners when drinking a soda, you have a better chance of keeping your aligners clean.

3. Am I brushing before putting the trays on? - The aligners have both an inside and outside. Keeping the outside clean is easy. Keeping the inside clean is also easy: just make sure you've brushed your teeth before putting the trays on.

These are all very simple steps, and ultimately, they help to keep you building great oral habits. If you have any questions about Invisalign or your treatment here at Alexander & Alexander Orthodontics, please go ahead and give us a call!

Happy Monday!
